Happy Friday! Today marks 1,000 days since the Queen City last saw a snowflake – and don’t count on seeing any this weekend. The sunny skies and comfy highs continue through this final day of the workweek as a ridge of high pressure maintains its foothold over the East Coast. Temperatures take another step in the warmer direction on Saturday as winds pick up from the southwest. Expect highs to soar into the 80s across much of the Foothills and Piedmont for the first half of the weekend. Big changes arrive by Sunday as a cold front approaches from the northwest. A few showers may find their way into the Piedmont late Saturday night, but the bigger weather story will be the return of below-average temperatures. Highs on Sunday will struggle to clear 60° in the Metro as much cooler air rushes in from the northeast. We’ll also see more clouds than what we’ve been used to as we close out the weekend. Abundant sunshine returns by the start of the new workweek as highs shift into recovery mode. After starting out in the 50s and 60s on Monday, highs will rise well into the 70s again in the Piedmont by midweek. Halloween Thursday looks warm and sunny in the Queen City, with highs approaching 80°. Today: Sunny and comfy. High: 78°. Wind: SW 5-10. Tonight: Clear and cool. Low: 54°. Wind: Light. Saturday: Warm sunshine. High: 83°. Wind: NW 5-10. Saturday Night: Clouds build. Stray shower? Low: 54°. Wind: NE 5-15. Gusts: 20+ Sunday: Variable clouds. Much cooler. High: 63°. Wind: NE 5-15.
