FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Multiple suspects have been arrested after the carjacking of an Amazon Delivery Driver's Van, and one of them was also taken into custody in connection with a robbery earlier this month, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies say property crime detectives arrested 37-year-old Jose Munoz Trujillo and 33-year-old Joshua Garcia in connection with the Amazon van carjacking. On the afternoon of Oct. 3, deputies say Garcia and Munoz Trujillo carjacked an Amazon worker who was making a delivery near North Dower Avenue and West Dakota Avenue in Fresno. Sheriff's officials say they pointed a gun at the employee and took their Amazon van, which contained packages. The suspects fled in the van and a black Toyota Corolla they originally arrived in. According to the sheriff's office, deputies continued searching for the Amazon van on Oct. 3. They eventually found it abandoned not too far away from the location where it was originally taken. Responding deputies developed information about the Toyota and located it near NorthPleasant Avenue and West Home Avenue. Deputies found Amazon packages in plain view inside the car. In this same area, deputies say they made contact with Garcia and placed him under arrest. Detectives later searched the car and found a loaded pistol inside. Detectives say they obtained information that Trujillo may have been the other suspect in this robbery. Members of multiple units in the sheriff’s office served a search warrant on Oct. 18, at a home located at 1363 N. Hughes Ave. in Fresno. There, officials say deputies found firearms and other evidence related to both the Amazon carjacking and the Adams Market Robbery. Deputies contacted 36-year-old Johnny Munoz at the home, who is the brother of Jose Munoz Trujillo. According to the sheriff's office, Johnny attempted to run away. Sheriff’s K-9 Kane was deployed and while apprehending him, Johnny punched the dog. Deputies say they ultimately took Johnny into custody. It was discovered Fresno Police had issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with an unrelated home invasion robbery. Meanwhile, detectives learned Jose Munoz Trujillo was in Exeter. They travelledto that city and arrested him. Deputies say Munoz Trujillo faces a charge of carjacking for the crime he committed with Garcia. However, he was also accused of robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of stolen property for his role in the Adams Market robbery on Oct. 8. Munoz Trujillo has a total bail amount of $400,000. 2 suspects arrested for robbery at Fresno market, deputies say Garcia has a bail amount of $100,000, but he is currently not eligible for bail due to the carjacking charge, deputies say.
