YOSEMITE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The public comment period to improve a popular trail in Yosemite has been opened, officials with the park announced on Thursday.
Park officials say a 30-day public comment period for the Mist Trail Corridor Project has been initiated Thursday, and it will be open through Nov. 23.
Yosemite officials are looking for input on potential enhancements along the popular trail. They say the goal of the project is to address safety, wayfinding, stewardship, and education and to provide amenities to accommodate sustainable levels of visitor use.
According to park rangers, The Mist Trail Corridor is the busiest in the park with an average of 85,000 visitors each summer utilizing the trailhead near Happy Isles. During the first phase of this planning effort, a virtual public meeting will be held on Nov. 13 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
