FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Fresno Yosemite International Airport was awarded a $6 million grant, which they say will be used to fund a portion of the terminal expansion project. Officials with the airport say the grant, is additional funding from the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Airport Terminal Program as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. According to airport officials, the new terminal expansion will improve passenger processing efficiencies and help expand the passenger screening checkpoint. The grant is an addition to $7.1 million in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, which was awarded in 2023, according to airport officials. Airport officials say its airport expansion project was included in the $970 million Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding awarded to 125 U.S. airports and designed to invest in key areas. According to airport officials, it is anticipated by January 2025; work will commence inside the building with the installation of equipment and finishes. The first phase of opening for the project will include the newly expanded passenger screening checkpoint in early 2025.
