A Colorado Parks and Wildlife employee on Thursday rescued a deer in Bayfield that was tangled in electric rope, according to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Twitter. Community members had reported sightings of the deer that had electric rope, a type of nylon rope intertwined with electric wiring, wrapped around its neck and antlers for weeks. The rope left a gash in the buck’s neck and broke one of the buck’s antlers. Once the buck was untangled, Taylor gave the animal a drug to reverse the sedation. Within minutes, the deer was back on its feet. “This incident serves as another reminder for folks to assess their properties for potential tangle hazards,” Colorado Parks and Wildlife tweeted. As residents begin decorating for the holidays, they should remember to protect animals from getting tangled in wiring and other cords by hanging them up high and wrapping them tightly.
