(Kyle Franko/ Trentonian Photo)Expand MONROE TWP. — The inaugural CVC Cross Country Championships took place on Thursday afternoon at Thompson Park in Monroe. It was the final chance for runners around the league to tune up for the upcoming sectional championships, which are right back at Thompson Park on Nov. 2 for Central Jersey schools. The West Windsor-Plainsboro North boys and Princeton High girls won the team titles. West Windsor-Plainsboro South’s Shravan Pradeep and West Windsor-Plainsboro North’s Allison Lee were the individual winners of the boys and girls races, respectively. Pradeep cruised to victory in a time of 16:29.4, which was about 17 seconds ahead of second place. Pradeep’s time was shy of his season best 15.17.4 that he ran last week at the CVC Division Meet at Robbinsville. That time is in the books as the eighth fastest in the state to date. Steinert’s Tyler Hurst took second in 16:46.5, WW-P North’s Luke Ferrer was third in 16:47.5, Notre Dame’s Tarun Kovoor was fourth in 16:51.6 and WW-P North’s Agrim Jha rounded out the top five in 16:52.5 The Knights captured the team title with 60 points, ahead of South in second (75), Hopewell Valley in third (94) and Princeton High in fourth (95). It marked the second CVC championship of the fall for North as boys XC joined girls tennis. Lee was a runaway victor in the girls race after she crossed the finish line in 18:27.5 to giver her a 27-second victory. Lee’s top time of the fall, a 17:28.1 at last week’s CVC Divisional meet, is the second quickest in the state. The Princeton High duo of Kajol Karra (18:54.3) and Grace Hegedus (18:59.9) finished second and third. Lee’s teammate Zui Chinchalkar was fourth in 19:06.6 and Hopewell Valley’s Claire Dumont rounded out the top five in 19:06.7. The Tigers, who are ranked No. 3 in the state by NJ MileSplit, showed why with 29 points to easily take the team title. In addition to Karra and Hegedus, Eowyn Deess finished sixth (19:32.2), Rosemary Warren was eighth (19:52.3) and Sevanne Knoch was 10th (20:07.6). That’s five of the top 10 finishers coming from Princeton High. In fact, the two times that didn’t count toward the team points came from places 11 and 14, respectively. North placed second with 59 points, Hopewell Valley was third with 80 and WW-P South fourth with 130.
