As well as an untitled series, by Vince Gilligan, creator of "Breaking Bad". The New Mexico Film Office said in a statement, "Even with the traditional holiday slowdown, New Mexico anticipates a busy start to 2025." "So, we expect to see some more productions in the spring and then we just continue to work on laying a solid foundation for future growth. Building educational programs, working with our stakeholders and partners in the industry,” said Mateo Fraizer, New Mexico Media Arts Collective. The state's film and television industry are celebrating a huge milestone of over a billion dollars in economic impact this year. That's nearly $200 million in spending generated during this fiscal year. Competitive financial incentives play a big part in what's drawing filmmakers to the land of enchantment. In an interview in August, Senator Jeff Steinborn, President of Film Las Cruces said, "Well the number one thing is our film incentive. We have one of the best incentive programs in the country to lure films here we give them a rebate up to 40 percent on their production expenses for filming here so that's obviously incredibly generous.” It's also new infrastructure the state hopes will keep them coming back for more. During a press conference in June, Ted Sarandos, Co-CEO of Netflix said, "Since 2019, Netflix has already directly invested about 575 million dollars in New Mexico productions, and if you factor in what folks have spent here, about 900 million dollars in New Mexico investment so far." It's a leading hub for film production for all filmmakers. "It's growing in both the independent scene in the higher-end professional filmmaking scene, so I think New Mexico is just going to keep going from here,” said John FreelyKirk, NM Independent Filmmaker. In celebration of new added film infrastructure, the New Mexico Media Arts Collective will be joining the Doña Ana Community College on Friday at the opening of the college's new Creative Media Technology Building.
