Wynne postpones the release of Speak of the Devil, but gives us "Bad Girl," and a hot Halloween line-up at Hungry Hungry Hip-Hop by Jenni Moore In this edition of Hear in Portland: a hot Halloween line-up at local showcase Hungry Hungry Hip-Hop (costumes encouraged!), Wynne drops a new single and some release news, and Rihanna's been playing THIS PORTLAND SINGER's song on repeat! Whose? Let's get into it! MUST SEE:  Upcoming local event(s) featuring local artist(s).   Hungry Hungry Hip-Hop: Siah Tha Kid, YAWA, Camurai X, Listening Listener We’re no stranger to singing the praises of soulful singer-songwriter YAWA aka Amenta Abioto, who's known for her unique, partially-improvised sets using a loop pedal, her voice, and whatever instruments she feels like that day. Not long after headlining a recent installment of the Thesis, YAWA appears on a fun-looking local showcase called Hungry Hungry Hip-Hop. While the name sounds kid-coded, this is a 21 and older show—though, Halloween costumes are encouraged. The rest of the line-up looks similarly great: Siah Tha Kid, Camurai X, and producer Listening Listener. This one is fire. Sadly, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the rest of the project to drop; Wynne took to Instagram to announce that the EP's release delay, due to troubles with sample-clearance. We're confident it’ll be worth the wait, but until then, Wynne has plenty of recent content to binge, including a performance of “Bad Girl,” delivered from her own living room.  “Lyin,” Zyah Belle After lots of teasing and social media promotion, Zyah Belle dropped her highly anticipated new single, “Lyin,” and it feels like both a clap-back and a post-betrayal glow-up. The song’s simple and succinct chorus is catchy as hell, as Zyah repeats “You’s a lyin’ ass nigga, you’s a lie/ You’s a tryin’-ass-nigga, boy, you tried me.” We’re not the only ones who think the new song is dope. Global pop superstar Rihanna slid into the rising star’s DMs to give her co-sign, encouraging Belle to release the single. “Okay, this is breaking news. You wouldn’t guess who’s in my DM,” Belle excitedly said in her TikTok. “Bad Gal Riri. Rihanna. Yes, this is not a drill. Rihanna messaged me.” She shared a screenshot of their DM exchange, in which RiRi said, “Just here to remind you to drop this if you haven’t yet! And if you have send me the title so I can put on da repeat squad.” And well, we don’t know what else to say other than… let’s go run up Rihanna’s new fav song from one of our fav locally based artists!
