WAUPACA, Wis. (WFRV) - A popular display in Waupaca is 250 pumpkins strong this year. The 'Pumpkin Time at the Millers' pumpkin display in front of Waupaca City Hall runs through Nov. 3. It began 25 years ago when Jim Miller carved a few pumpkins for his kids. He told Local 5 News that it got bigger and bigger each year to the point where Miller could no longer host it at his home. He contacted the city of Waupaca and moved the display to outside city hall. "It's something that brings people into town." Miller said this year is the largest the display has ever been. He and a group of other volunteers put in a ton of work to make it happen each year. "(Since) the first of October I've been putting in 16 hour days," said Miller. For Jalaine Nitzke, coming to see the display has become a tradition. She said she's visited it the last six years. "We love coming here, we always take a lot of pictures," said Nitzke. "It is worth the drive because there are so many to see and people will just mingle and look and the kids will just be all over looking at them."   Wisconsin Humane Society: How to keep pets safe during the Halloween season The display looks great during the day, but at night is when it really dazzles. The pumpkins have lights inside of them that illuminate them at night. "You need to go because it's really cool," said Kinsley Christman who is here with her family. "Mr. Miller has done a really good job on them and my brother really enjoys them."  At the pumpkin display, there is also a collection box for Shop with a Cop and a dropoff spot for the local food pantry for those interested in donating. "Once I did my first pumpkin it was like wow this isn't that hard and it looks really cool."
