(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — Law enforcement in Fremont County held another meeting with community members in Cañon City to address what locals are calling an uptick in crime. On Thursday, Oct. 24, representatives from the Cañon City Police Department (CCPD) and the Fremont County Sheriff's Office FCSO) discussed what they are doing to address crime in the region. Stephen Jones with FCSO. "Call your local police departments, call your sheriff's office, get them involved. Call the State Patrol if things are happening on the highway. Let them know that these are the things that are endangering citizens. Also, very simple things. Lock your doors--to your house, to your car." At a similar meeting earlier in October, neighbors in Cañon City expressed frustrations that people who are arrested are allegedly being released only to commit more crimes.
