HICKORY, N.C. – A Hickory man pleaded guilty Wednesday for distributing fentanyl to a 31-year-old woman who overdosed in September of 2023.
Kevin Carroll, 41, will serve eight to 10 years in prison for death by distribution.
Investigators said the woman purchased fentanyl from Carroll prior to her death by overdose. Carroll admitted to investigators that he sold fentanyl to the woman and that he did to support his own drug use.
She was found dead at a Hickory apartment complex on September 29th, 2023. Her autopsy showed she had died from fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity.
Carroll showed remorse during his court appearance, offering an apology and saying he never meant to hurt anyone, officials said.
He will serve his sentence in the custody of the North Carolina Division of Adult Corrections.
