Man arrested in Williston after dispute leads to alleged assault

WILLISTON, ND (KXNET) — A man has been arrested in Williston for aggravated assault after a dispute led to him allegedly hitting a woman over the head with an object.
According to the Williston Police Department, at about 1:04 a.m. on October 21, a man and woman went to the emergency room of a hospital in Williston, due to the woman having lacerations to her head and a wound in her bicep.
The woman told medical staff at the hospital that she had a verbal argument with the man, who then struck her over the head with something.

The man claimed there wasn't a physical altercation, but officers said they observed blood on his body, lacerations to his hands, and abrasions to his shins. The man said he got the lacerations from a corkscrew. Officers observed discrepancies in his story.
After obtaining a search warrant, officers went to the couple's residence and saw broken glass containing suspected blood on the bedroom floor. Officers also said they found a corkscrew device on the dresser, a TV on the floor, and blood on the door as well as droplets inside and outside the residence.
The man was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Assault - Dangerous Weapon or Other Weapon - Adult Victim, a Class C Felony.
