BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Thursday, October 24, marks six months since the allegations of sexually assaulting a preteen girl first emerged against former Kern Supervisor Zack Scrivner. Yet, there are still no updates on his investigation, which is under the California Department of Justice. In fact, the department told 17 News the same two words they're repeated for months: "No updates." The case is being handled out of county, due to a conflict of interest. Kern District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer is Scrivner's aunt. The Kern Sheriff's Department said it's wrapped up its investigation and handed everything off to the DOJ. Suspected car thief dead after high-speed chase, crash on live TV When asked about the case in September, Sheriff Donny Youngblood commented, "quote "I do have my questions, 'Why it would take this long? It never takes this long." That was over a month ago. After the allegations surfaced in late April, Scrivner resigned from the Board of Supervisors citing significant health and medical reasons. In late August, 17 News attempted to talk with Scrivner on his way to class for a master's program at CSUB. We asked him where he had been, if the allegations of child sexual assault are true, and if he's receiving special treatment due to his county status. He refused to comment.
