Week 8 kicks off with the Minnesota Vikings taking on the Los Angeles Rams on “Thursday Night Football.” Come chat with us in our open thread. The Minnesota Vikings (5-1) are on the road in Week 8, traveling to California to take on the Los Angeles Rams (2-4) at SoFi Stadium. These two teams have faced off 47 times in their histories, with the Vikings holding a 22-16-2 regular season advantage, as well as a 5-2 advantage in the Playoffs. However, it’s been the home team that has walked away the victor in three of the previous four meetings. The Vikings got off to a hot start to the season, operating with a top-ranked defense, they won their first five games. But coming out of their bye week, they squared off with the Lions and were dealt their first loss of the season. Now, after a physical game vs. Detroit, and on a short week, we will see if the “Lions Hangover” will come into play one more time. The Rams also tangled with the Lions (in the season opener) and also lost, then falling victim to the injury bug in the ensuing weeks and struggling to win games. They’re just now slowly starting to get healthy, and they’ll need to start stacking wins before the season gets away from them. Betting line and pick for the game It’s not surprising to see the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook favoring Minnesota in this game but the betting line being set at Vikings -3 points, illustrates that this game could be closer than most experts think. The Rams are a feisty team right now and are expected to return Cooper Kupp to the lineup, which should give Matthew Stafford a huge boost. But if the Rams are going to pull off the upset, they’ll need their defense to force the Vikings to make mistakes. I’d love to side with the Rams in this game, but the Vikings are legit and should be able to get the win.
