HYATTSVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) -- Hyattsville residents are fighting to protect a local restaurant on Ager Road. La Doñita, a local Salvadorian deli is at risk of losing its lot because the Prince George’s County Planning Board is looking to build a McDonald's with a drive-thru along Ager Rd. City of Greenbelt opens new health facility with CCI Health Some residents like Jeff Cronin are not pleased with this proposition.  “The neighborhood is not clamoring for any more McDonald's. We have plenty," Cronin said. “We're certainly not clamoring for any more drive-thru’s” The people who oppose McDonald's said traffic on the already busy road will increase due to this and potentially be more dangerous. “I think this community wants to support the local businesses that are here and not have them displaced by businesses we find everywhere,” Cronin said. In a planning board meeting on Thursday, those on the side of building the McDonald's said they did the proper research on the road and contacted the proper associations like the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT).   “They provided some feedback as to what we would need to do for our detailed site plan,” Brian Redder said. “We by all means intend to follow the requirements of MDOT.”  Gwynn Park’s football team forfeits some remaining games due to rules violation There's no exact timetable as to when everything will happen. Cronin said he and La Doñita supporters will most likely appeal if the McDonald's plan is approved. Another Planning Board meeting discussing the topic is set for Nov. 21.
