HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The Hanford Police Department identified the man killed in a drive-by shooting earlier this week during a press conference on Thursday. Along with the Kings County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement also announced the arrest of the 16-year-old suspect in two shooting cases. On Wednesday, the Hanford Police Department said a man was killed while he was driving north on 10th Avenue in Hanford. The man, identified as 23-year-old Cruz David Avalos of Hanford, had stopped at the southeast corner of East Lacey Boulevard when the driver of a black Nissan Versa pulled next to him and fired multiple shots. Police say they arrived at the scene and found the vehicle with numerous bullet holes. Avalos was found unresponsive and with multiple gunshot wounds. He passed away in the hospital. A 16-year-old male who was living in Hanford was identified as the suspect in the drive-by shooting. Then on Thursday, at around 1 a.m., the Kings County Sheriff's Office said they responded to the Santa Rosa Rancheria in Lemoore for another shooting victim. The victim was a 19-year-old man from Hanford. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover. According to deputies, neighbors reported gunshots being fired by a man and a woman who were fleeing the scene. The man turned out to be a 16-year-old male juvenile, who was found in the parking lot of the Tachi Palace Casino. The other suspect was later found to be a man with long black hair. Deputies say the 16-year-old attempted to run away from them and did not want to comply, but he was eventually arrested and taken into custody. The description of the juvenile matched the description of the suspect in Wednesday's drive-by shooting. However, deputies say he was not a suspect in Thursday's early morning shooting. Deputies say the 16-year-old was found with a 9mm handgun - and the firearm is being compared with the one used in the fatal drive-by shooting. The Hanford Police Department adds the juvenile suspect has been arrested before. The sheriff's office learned the 19-year-old victim, the 16-year-old juvenile and the other outstanding suspect were in a vehicle together when they were questioned about gang affiliations at the Santa Rosa Rancheria. The staff there attempted to stop them from fleeing the scene. Although an arrest has been made in the previous shooting, the Kings County Sheriff's Office says the suspect in Thursday's shooting, the man with long hair, is still on the run. He is believed to be 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet, weight 190 to 230 pounds and deputies say he is armed. Anyone with information regarding the man's whereabouts is asked to contact the Kings County Sheriff's Office.
