SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A San Francisco man whose destructive behavior allegedly caused half a million dollars in damages at BART stations was nabbed by officers, police said. Saqueo Delcidmontenegro, 28, targeted three busy stations in downtown San Francisco during a "vandalism spree," BART police said. A BART Police Department Transit Ambassador recognized Delcidmontenegro while he was riding on a train Tuesday night, police said. Officers arrested him. Since the beginning of October, 29 large glass panels have been damaged at entrances to Embarcadero, Montgomery, and Powell Street stations. Police suspect that Delcidmontenegro was responsible for the vandalism. "Many of the destroyed panels are part of new canopies that are being built over the entrances to downtown San Francisco stations," police wrote. "The work is a vital part of BART’s efforts to improve the daily rider experience." The total cost of replacing the panels is estimated at more than $500,000.Delcidmontenegro was booked into San Francisco County Jail on five counts of felony vandalism.
