SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Nearly a dozen people were arrested in connection with illegal drug transactions near the railroad tracks in Springfield. According to Springfield Police Department Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, an increase in drug dealing surrounding the Taylor Street area has been reported by businesses and treatment centers. In response, the Firearms Investigation Unit conducted several sweeps of the nearby wooded area this month. Suspect arrested after police target three Massachusetts homes for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine On Wednesday, two people were arrested after detectives conducted surveillance near the railroad tracks between Taylor Street and Warwick Street. Approximately 200 bags of heroin and several bags and capsules of cocaine were seized. Police arrested 46-year-old Carlos Perez-Morales of Springfield and 43-year-old Jonathan Rivera of Holyoke.
