Tuition increases approved for CCRI, RIC

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Students attending the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) and Rhode Island College (RIC) next September can expect a slight increase in their tuitions.
The Council on Postsecondary Education approved increases that start in Fiscal Year 2026 during a meeting on Wednesday.
Currently, it costs $5,090 for an in-state student to attend CCRI for one year, and $13,552 for a student from outside of Rhode Island.
A spokesperson for the RI Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner told 12 News that CCRI's increases are 5.7% and 5.8%, respectively. This means in-state students will now pay $5,380 and out-of-state students will pay $14,338.
In-state students attending RIC will see a 3.6% increase, while out-of-state students will have a 3.7% increase. Currently, the in-state tuition is $5,650 and the out-of-state cost is $13,649.
After the increases, those costs will be $5,853 and $14,154, respectively.
