EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – That’s the number of transparent glass spheres that make this beautiful necklace. It was a gift from a fellow breast cancer thriver during a fundraising event for the Stand with Estela Casas Cancer Foundation. With the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 36, Maria Delgado Cazares led the charge on October 11th to raise money for the foundation.
The ladies decorated pumpkins, wore pink, and sold spaghetti dinners to help provide free mammograms and cancer screenings to our uninsured communities. The team has donated thousands of dollars to help others on their cancer journey. I am grateful to that particular group of ladies!
Creating this event and this jewelry piece for me took time, patience, and love. I’m sure it took several days and hours to intertwine the pink silk ribbon inside the balls and separate them with gold spacers.

As a cancer survivor of almost 7 years, I count every day as a blessing; every gift is accepted with gratitude, especially when it’s made from a cancer sister.
During breast cancer awareness month, we remember all the women who fought the good fight, celebrate the women who completed treatment, and cheer on the women currently on a journey.
Thank you for the beautiful event and necklace that I will wear with pride.
