WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - The Biden administration announced more humanitarian aid for Gaza. The announcement comes as aid workers report a growing number of Palestinians suffering. "We need peace in Gaza,” said U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guerres. There are growing international calls to send more aid to Gaza where U.N. aid workers report men, women and children are fighting for their survival in the war-torn territory. "Today we're announcing an additional $135 million in humanitarian assistance,” said Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is again pressing Israeli forces to allow more supplies, including water sanitation materials into Gaza immediately. Last week the U.S. threatened to withhold military assistance if Israel did not end its two-week aid blockade. U.N. leaders say Israel made it impossible to deliver fuel and critical polio vaccines into northern Gaza. "It's imperative to stop the polio outbreak in Gaza before more children are paralyzed and the virus spreads,” said Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary General Farhan Haq. In recent days Israel has allowed dozens of aid trucks into northern Gaza but has shown little sign of ending its military campaign. Thursday, Israel’s military struck a Gaza school where they allege Hamas militants were hiding. Palestinian medical officials report at least 17 people, including 13 children, were killed. Secretary Blinken is wrapping up a trip where he crisscrossed the Middle East to try to broker a ceasefire deal.
