BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two people were arrested after two Buffalo police officers were injured in an incident near Schiller Park early Thursday morning, according to city officials. Around 12 a.m., officers say they responded to Blake Street for a trespassing call. There, they found a male and a female in the back of a vehicle parked in the driveway. When they were commanded to unlock their doors, the male allegedly jumped into the driver's seat and attempted to flee. The driver struck a pole in the backyard of a Kerns Avenue home and drove through shrubs and a fence, officials said. The vehicle eventually came to a stop and the occupants were apprehended. Two officers were injured while attempting to make the arrest as the male allegedly resisted being handcuffed. One of the officers was struck by a vehicle, city officials said. All three were taken to ECMC for non-life threatening injuries. Around 2.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a scale and $1,823 were recovered, according to officials. 34-year-old Larry Rogers of West Seneca was charged with the following: second-degree assault first-degree reckless endangerment two counts, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance third-degree criminal mischief second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia second-degree obstruction of governmental administration resisting arrest 23-year-old Kayanna Leee of Buffalo was charged with the following: fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia second-degree obstruction of governmental administration The investigation remains ongoing.
