There’s something new in Boise’s blue recycling carts. Residents can now recycle #5 plastic food tubs – the ones found in your refrigerator containing yogurt, cottage cheese, sour cream, salsa, and sauces – thanks to upgrades at Republic Services’ Idaho Recycling Center. In addition to food tubs, the center can now also recycle lightweight #1 plastic water bottles. Boise residents can recycle clean, dry #1 and #2 plastics shaped like a jug, bottle, or jar and #5 plastic food tubs, including caps and lids, in their blue carts. Look for the numbered recycling symbol on the bottom of the item. Boise businesses and residents of multifamily housing with recycling service can also participate.
