WILLISTON, ND (KXNET) — A man in Williston is being charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after officers found smoking devices and a substance suspected to be methamphetamine in his car. According to the Williston Police Department, at about 8:51 a.m. on October 20, an officer pulled over a car for failing to use its turn signal at least 100 feet before turning. The driver, Troy Lynn Johnson, was nervous, and said he was just driving in circles, unsure of where he was going. When the officer asked Johnson if he had any illegal items in the car, the driver became defensive and argumentative. Johnson then called someone to alert them about the traffic stop, and upon being instructed by the officer to hang up, he refused to comply. Another officer arrived on scene, and Johnson eventually stopped resisting and informed them about methamphetamine and a marijuana smoking device he had in the backseat. Two men arrested for stealing safe from Williston man’s garage The officers searched the car and found suspected marijuana paraphernalia, along with smoking devices containing residue suspected to be from meth and fentanyl. They also found two bags with 2.1 grams in total of a substance believed to be meth. Johnson has a prior conviction for possession of drug paraphernalia and now faces two similar charges, which are Class C felonies for repeat offenses.
