The Lake County Genealogical Society will be meeting by Zoom at 10 a.m. Oct. 31. Anyone who is interested in historical and genealogical research is invited to take part, according to a news release. A short business meeting will be conducted before the presentation by First Vice President Mary Huey, titled “Sharing Our Family History — An Idea Swap.” The winter holidays and celebrations present opportunities for people to share their family history finds. The challenge is to engage family members and get them excited about the history of their family. Listening to and sharing ideas can be a boost a creative approach in sharing research, the release stated. Attendees will be asked to share what ideas worked and maybe what didn’t work in the sharing of family history. Huey will moderate this share and tell session and how she turned a mild curiosity in her husband’s family history into a fulfilling hobby during the time of the COVID shutdown in 2020 and continues to enjoy finding the answers to the puzzles of her family history. To receive an invitation to the Zoom meeting send an email at least two days in advance of the meeting to [email protected] or use the contact form at www.lcgsohio.org/contact. The Lake County Genealogical Society actively supports the genealogical collection at Morley Library in Painesville by donating materials, staffing the genealogy room, acquiring, sharing and filing genealogical newsletters, indexing items, and answering queries, the release stated.
