The Lakeland Community College Police Department will transform its campus parking lot into a “Halloween spectacular” for its first-ever “Trunk or Treat” event from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 26. The free, family-friendly celebration invites community members to explore emergency vehicles and meet local first responders. In addition, officials noted that children are encouraged to dress up and enjoy the afternoon in a safe, monitored trick-or-treating environment. “We’re excited to open our campus to the community for this new event that combines Halloween fun with public safety education,” said Officer Mike Chicarell. “It’s an opportunity for families to interact with first responders in a positive, engaging environment while enjoying the holiday spirit.” Event highlights include an up-close exploration of police cars, fire trucks and emergency vehicles; a Halloween movie screening in the H-Building; and community resource tables and safety information. Multiple local agencies will also be on-site, including Kirtland Police, Kirtland Hills Police, Holden Arboretum Police, the Lake Metroparks Ranger Department, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Sub-Zero Mission. Community organizations such as the Lake County Family, Children First Council, and the Lakeland student and community resource departments will also participate. Additionally, the event will feature both outdoor vehicle displays and indoor activities in the college’s H-building, “ensuring an enjoyable afternoon regardless of weather conditions,” officials noted. Lakeland Community College campus is located at 7700 Clocktower Drive in Kirtland. For more information, contact Officer Mike Chicarell at 440-525-7241 or via email at [email protected].
