DC Water said once on the scene, their crews found a 16-inch water main and its transmission line broke at Michigan Avenue. “It was very significant and very sudden," said Vito Maggiolo with DC Fire and EMS. "We're very fortunate that Vichy Water was able to control it as quickly as they did. Also, because of this rush hour, there weren't more vehicles that found themselves in that predicament. Again, we have a standing rule. If you see high water in front of you, turn around, don't drown." Officials said services were not impacted in the area, and repairs are expected to be complete within the next eight to ten hours. As a result of the water main break, commuters riding the Metro Bus can expect delays in both directions on Route H2 at Irving Street and Park Place.
