OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) -- In a couple of months, motorists will be paying more to cross all Bay Area bridges, except the Golden Gate Bridge, which is not state-owned. The price is currently $7, and in January, it will go up a dollar to $8. But there’s a good chance that won’t be the end of it. If approved, starting in 2026, tolls would go up 50 cents every year until 2030, when it reaches $10.50 to cross. (KRON4) The Bay Area Toll Authority said it needs money to do construction work, and it wants to turn to drivers once again to pay for it. SF Superior Court clerks on strike Thursday over contract Regional Measure 3 was passed in 2018, raising the state-owned bridge tolls in the Bay Area by a dollar in 2019 and again in 2022, with one last increase set to take effect on Jan. 1, 2025. A separate agency is behind this new proposal to raise prices by 50 cents per year until 2030. A public hearing will be held on Nov. 13.
