(KRON) -- A "troubling" occurrence took place during California High School's homecoming dance in San Ramon last Saturday, according to a letter from San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) Superintendent CJ Cammack letter sent to families. An assistant principal at Cal High was physically assaulted and dragged by her hair by a 16-year-old boy who attends another school in the district, the San Ramon Police Department said. The assistant principal was approached by two students in the parking lot on campus on Oct. 19. Officials said one of the students then physically assaulted the principal, and the second student fled the parking lot together with the first student. After San Ramon police responded to the assault, the 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody later that night at his address. Staff, families and students have already been informed of the incident. The boy was booked into Juvenile Hall in Martinez for battery causing serious bodily injury and kidnapping, police said. Stonestown to debut new bowling alley, arcade at San Francisco mall "SRVUSD will also conduct a comprehensive investigation and will pursue all disciplinary consequences to the fullest extent permissible by law," Cammack's letter said. "We want to be clear that, in no uncertain terms, we take the safety of our students and our staff as a top priority. Unsafe conduct will not be tolerated at Cal High or at any school in SRVUSD." The letter did not disclose the circumstances of what led up to the assault. SRVUSD did not say what the condition of the assistant principal was after they were assaulted. "We want to be clear that, in no uncertain terms, this conduct will not be tolerated at Cal High or at any school in SRVUSD," the letter continued. "We care deeply about the safety and well-being of our students, as well as all of our staff." SRPD will continue to investigate this incident.
