EAST SYRACUSE – Entering the post-season fray, the Baldwinsville boys cross country team would contend for top honors in Wednesday’s Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division championships, but not quite get there. After years of B’ville hosting the meet at Durgee Junior High School, the event in 2024 moved to East Syracuse Minoa and its 3.1-mile Pine Grove Junior High School course. There, just as in the regular season, the boys Bees would beat everyone in the SCAC Metro field except Cicero-North Syracuse, whose 34 points topped B’ville’s 52 as the Bees were third in the overall league meet behind the Northstars and Empire division champion Auburn. Jacob Guelli finished 15th in the individual race and eighth in the Metro division, going 17 minutes 29.7 seconds to beat out Liam McComber’s 17:39.9 that put him ninth in the league and Wyatt Decker’s 17:47.8 which landed him 10th in the league. Logan Bolton, in 17:57.1, finished 12th in the division and 22nd overall, with London Premo rounding out the scoring column going 17:59.8 as Angelo Sawyers (18:17.5) and Dominic Dottolo (18:19.6) also were in the Metro division top 20. Moving to the girls SCAC race, B’ville had 82 points to finish fourth in the Metro division behind Fayetteville-Manlius, C-NS and Liverpool and fifth overall with 110 points. Kamryn Barton made her way to 14th place overall and ninth in the Metro division standings, just missing a chance to break the 20-minute mark as she finished in 20:00.4. Madelyn Donhauser and Ella DeFio both finished in 20:24.25 for the 13th and 14th spots in the Metro division, respectively, while Yolanda Wei was 18th in the division in 20:45.2. Mariah LeGrow (21:42.8) rounded out the scoring column, beating out the 21:44.2 from Isabella Arria and 22:05 flat from Rachel Becker. Now comes the long wait (more than two weeks) for the Nov. 9 Section III championships at Mount Markham where both of B’ville’s teams will run and train plenty while also resting from a busy regular season.
