A court in Colorado may decide Thursday's Five Facts [1] 5 Bernalillo County residents contract E. coli possibly linked to McDonald’s, NMDOH says - The New Mexico Department of Health is confirming five cases of E. coli in Bernalillo County linked to McDonald's. The CDC believes the quarter pounder hamburger may be to blame. McDonald's has since removed that menu item and other ingredients until further notice. The CDC is reporting nearly 50 infections across 10 different states, and confirmed one death. [2] Roswell mayor confirms 3rd death due to flooding - The city of Roswell is confirming a third death from recent flooding. Wednesday, Mayor Tim Jennings confirmed that three residents died from the deadly storm, as well as a donkey at the Spring River Zoo. The city is also working to replace damaged water and sewer lines. Mayor Jennings says there is no concern for the city's drinking water. [4] Albuquerque police repeatedly seeing same offenders on medians - In 2022 the city implemented a 'Pedestrian Safety Ordinance' designed to keep people off medians deemed unsafe. APD says it has written 261 citations for occupying medians, but continues to see the same offenders back on the same medians. A spokesperson with Metro Court, says what could be happening in some cases, is the person doesn’t show up for court and that's what they get penalized for, possibly spending a short time in jail. APD said the most common places for median violations are along the Central corridor and along Coors. [5] Sandia National Laboratories set to open 25-year-old time capsule - It was the 50th anniversary of Sandia National Laboratories in 1999, when its very first time capsule was buried. It’s set to be opened during its 75th anniversary, next week. Like most time capsules it holds meaningful trinkets, but this time capsule also holds the technology of its time. The tradition will continue as trinkets and technology will be placed in a new time capsule to be opened in 2049.
