A workforce-focused nonprofit and eatery has expanded operations to the fourth floor of their New Orleans headquarters. Located at 1631 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. in Central City, Reconcile New Orleans hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony October 8 to launch the opening of the Oscar J. Tolmas Career Exploration Center. The site also houses the Café Reconcile eatery on the ground floor, the Emeril Lagasse Hospitality Center for intern family events on the second floor, and classrooms and office spaces for licensed social worker consultations on the third floor. The Center was made possible through an undisclosed amount of investment funding from the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust Fund. “The Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust believes in New Orleans’ young people,” Kheri Billy, CEO of Reconcile New Orleans, said in a news release. “Their philanthropy ensures that interns feel seen, heard, valued, and supported. Our Interns now have a vital resource – a safe, supportive, and professional workspace equipped with the tools they need to unlock their potential and take the next steps in their growth and development.” According to a news release, Reconcile has remodeled the center’s professional learning workspace to deliver training programs supplied with career discovery, job readiness training and personalized social service support. Interns are guided through the program designed around career coaching, mock interviews and resume layout. “Support from the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust is an investment in the future of our entire community,” Billy said in the news release. “Each young person who finds a good job and starts their career strengthens New Orleans and helps our local economy thrive.” “We choose to support Reconcile because they promote education and careers,” Vincent J. Giardina CPA, president of the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust, said in the news release. “We know the Oscar J. Tolmas Career Exploration Center is an important resource that will positively impact young people. By donating to Reconcile, we feel we are doing our small part to create a better community and New Orleans for all of us.”
