MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man who is accused of kidnapping and assaulting his ex-girlfriend is now behind bars. Roy Burcham, 52, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Assault. He is currently being held on a $200,000 bond. Roy Burcham (Photo courtesy of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office) According to reports, on October 19, Burcham kidnapped his ex-girlfriend by jumping into her car in the parking lot of Hadley's Pub on Whitten Road, and telling her to "drive b****." Suspect accused of shooting man multiple times during attempted robbery She reportedly told Memphis Police that Burcham had threatened to kill her and threw an alcoholic drink in her face, burning her eyes. He then allegedly punched her in the head and face repeatedly, and pulled her hair as she was driving. Police say Burcham forced the victim to drive to his home in the 4400 block of Mimosa Road, where the victim had allegedly been "terrorized" by Burcham voicing his plans to kill her and make it look like an accident. She told police he punched and kicked her and eventually forced her to inhale smoke from a substance he claimed to be fentanyl. She was able to convince Burcham to let her go the next morning. Reports say the woman sustained multiple injuries, such as bruising to her arms, legs, back, face, and feet as a result of the alleged assault. Burcham is scheduled to appear back in court on Friday morning.
