MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The man police say is responsible for a shooting on a MATA bus last month has been taken into custody and charged for the crime. Memphis Police say the September 21 shooting stemmed from an argument between the suspect and victim while they were both on the bus. ORIGINAL STORY: MATA bus passenger shot after argument; suspect’s photos released When the bus stopped near the intersection of Ramill and Frayser-Raleigh Road, the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Rico Landford, got off the bus and fired multiple shots through the open door, shattering the bus windows. He ran from the scene on foot. Glass shards showered the inside of the bus, and police say the victim sustained cuts to his face, chest and arm. The victim told police he had been grazed by the gunfire. Surveillance footage from inside showed the verbal argument between the two and then the shooting and aftermath of the incident. Reports say he admitted to investigators that he was the one who fired shots at the bus. He is charged with two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. His bond has not been set, but he is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning.
