DELPHI, Ind. – The defense wants to hear from the former Carroll County prosecutor about the Delphi murders case. Robert Ives stepped down as prosecutor on Dec. 31, 2017. The defense filed a subpoena on Tuesday, Oct. 22, seeking to have him testify in court. Ives countered with a motion to quash the subpoena. His motion noted that charges were filed again Richard Allen in Oct. 2022, more than five years after he stepped down as prosecutor. COMPLETE COVERAGE | Delphi Murders Trial The motion said any information he had about the case would be “work product” and is not entitled to discovery. It added that he was not a fact witness and any information he had would be “speculative, irrelevant and inadmissible in this proceeding.” The motion asked the court to quash the subpoena or require the defense to “clearly demonstrate the relevancy of Robert Ives's testimony, the inability to obtain the information from another source, and to demonstrate the work order protection that Robert Ives has.” Ives talked to FOX59 News in 2021 for a piece on the Delphi case.
