GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A man has been arrested in connection with a 2023 deadly shooting, according to the Greensboro Police Department. On Thursday morning, officers took 67-year-old Virgil Benjamin into custody in Whiteville. An arrest warrant for murder was issued against Benjamin for the March 2023 fatal shooting of 62-year-old Robert Starr Pennix in Greensboro. Pennix was shot and killed on the 3700 block of Peterson Avenue on March 2, 2023. Benjamin is being held without bond in the Guilford County Jail. Investigators say they are not seeking any other suspects in the killing.
