Deputies arrest Assumption Parish man accused of raping child

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Pierre Part man accused of raping a child was arrested after an investigation.
According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a sex crimes complaint on Sept. 13. After a forensic interview with the victim, APSO identified Drew Michael Sparks, 32, as a suspect in this case.
The sheriff's office said detectives found more evidence in connection to inappropriate sexual contact with the victim.
Sparks was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on one count of first-degree rape of a person under the age of 13. Sparks is still in jail and a bond amount has not been set, according to the sheriff's office.
