RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Richmond YWCA will remember the victims Thursday night with the 28th annual Remember My Name Memorial.  The vigil starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Cedar Street Baptist Church, located at 2301 Cedar Street in Richmond. During the ceremony, family and friends will have the chance to tell their loved one’s story. The chance to remember their name.   The YWCA said a third of Virginia homicides are tied to domestic violence, and that domestic violence typically increases around the holiday season.   If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic abuse, the YWCA provides housing, counseling and 24-hour support. The Greater Richmond regional hotline can be reached 24/7 by phone or text at 804-612-6126.  You can also text the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 88788 or call 1-800-799-7233.
