PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Around 65,000 Rhode Islanders have already cast their ballot for the 2024 presidential election through mail-in ballots and early voting. The Ocean State has five major questions their looking to answer in the form of bond issues and calling for a constitutional convention, and the first question voters will see is about that issue exactly. Ballot question one is a yes or no question for voters, either saying they do or don’t want a constitutional convention that would open the state constitution to add, or change some of the state laws. A constitutional convention hasn’t been held in Rhode Island since 1986. The other ballot questions are all bond issues, meaning they could impact your taxes over the next few years. Ballot question two would bring just over $160 million dollars to facilities at higher education. Question three is a $120 million dollar proposal initially put forward by Governor Dan McKee to focus on building housing in the state. Question four would bring $53 million dollars for environmentally focused infrastructure. The final ballot question would bring $10 million dollars to continue the cultural arts and economy grants. Voters will have a chance to weigh in on each of these measures either at the polls on election day or through early voting. Providence City Hall said they’re even making it easier to cast your vote in this election. Extended voting hours are available below: Again, early voting is still available for Rhode Islanders, and election day is November 5. Categories: News
