PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — New details have emerged in a Portsmouth triple shooting that left one man dead and injured two others. PPD: 1 dead, 2 injured after shooting on Jefferson Street; 1 in custody Torian Sexton has been charged with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated malicious wounding and other firearm-related charges in connection to a shooting on Jefferson Street. If he is convicted of first-degree murder, the 19-year-old could spend the rest of his life in prison. On Sunday, Portsmouth police responded to a report of a shooting in the 2300 block of Jefferson Street, near Deep Creek Boulevard, around 5:30 p.m. One person was taken to the hospital for his injuries, and two others were treated at a hospital as walk-ins. One of them, Danyelle Akoya Lee, 44, died as a result of his injuries. According to court records, three men were playing dice behind a vacant building when a surveillance camera captured an approaching car with a man hanging from the passenger-side window and firing a 9mm weapon indiscriminately, wounding the three men. Lee is a familiar name to law enforcement, as court records that date back two decades indicate that he had been arrested multiple times on domestic assault charges, gun charges and drug charges. The day after Lee died, Portsmouth Police held a RESET walk, designed to open lines of communication with the public. Police have surveillance video and a license plate reader that was used to track the suspect to an apartment complex on High Street, and they have not revealed whether the driver of the getaway car has been arrested.
