HAYMARKET, Va. (DC News Now) -- Brandy, the family dog who was found alive six days after she was presumed dead in a house explosion in Haymarket, is doing well, her family told DC News Now on Wednesday. On Monday morning, firefighters from Prince William County Fire and Rescue (PWCFR) rescued Brandy from under the debris after receiving a report that someone heard barking in the wreckage of the house on Colby Hunt Court. Haymarket house explosion: What Prince William County fire marshals know so far Crews spent around 20 minutes stabilizing the structure to free Brandy. She eventually emerged with the help of some “good old coaxing by the home’s owner,” a news release from the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office said. Brandy's family told DC News Now Wednesday that she is "doing great at home with her family." Court documents: Charges filed in fatal Sterling home explosion On Oct. 15, the house, located in the 5900 block of Colby Hunt Ct., exploded and was "totally destroyed" after a contracting crewmember hit a natural gas line while addressing a water main break.
