Cooler air will lag behind the front and not arrive across the DMV until sunrise on Thursday. Some locations will start in the 40s, and others to the east will have temperatures in the 50s to begin the day. We'll start to feel the difference through the afternoon, as breezy northwesterly winds of 15-25 mph stick around and high temperatures only reach the lower to middle 60s. The wind, combined with how excessively dry it's been, will elevate the risk of wildfires, so be careful if you're handling any open flames or embers outside. It will turn chilly Thursday night as calmer winds take hold, with lows down into the 30s and 40s. Sunny skies will continue through the end of the work week with another wave of high pressure settling in. Temperatures will remain seasonal, especially with a second cold front arriving on Saturday. This front will kick up more wind, but rain isn't likely again. High temperatures on Sunday and Monday will be chilly behind the front, in the upper 50s and lower 60s. There is still no sign of wet weather in the extended forecast, with high pressure lingering off the East Coast and keeping it bone dry through the middle of next week. The only change we will see is rising temperatures, with warmer upper 60s and 70s returning. 7-Day Forecast: Tonight: Partly cloudy and getting breezy with a few stray showers to the west.
