ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Josh Allen threw a career-high 18 interceptions last season. So far this year, he is the only starting quarterback left in the NFL that has yet to throw one. Heading into Sunday's matchup against the Seahawks, the quarterback gave some insight into how he has been able to accomplish an interception-free season so far. "Just making better decisions, understanding the game plan. Knowing where my answers are and utilizing my legs when I need to," Allen said. Allen's passing game has led the Bills to a 5-2 record as they approach Week 8, impressing head coach Sean McDermott. "He's been very intentional about it, and it's important to him. He knows the value of playing clean football that way and protecting the house," McDermott said. "Like I said, very impressed by his decision making to this point." Allen's teammates also have noticed a difference between last season and now, as the quarterback's amount of interceptions last year were the second-highest in the league. "It really shows his growth over the offseason. That maturity, that not always trying to force the ball where it shouldn't always go," Connor McGovern said. Khalil Shakir even said that Allen is "not doing anything out of the ordinary," as the quarterback has just been doing his job. "He's definitely taken the step in the right direction when it comes to that," Shakir said. "Like you said, just being smart with the ball. Making throws when he needs to make the throws." Allen added that limiting interceptions was something he has been wanting to work on the last several seasons. His mindset this year has allowed him to find his receivers and contribute to the "Everybody Eats" mentality. "It's one of the things I wanted to clean up really the last couple of years," Allen said. "To now go up there and do it, it's easier said than done. Again, I'm just trying to take it one play at a time, make the right decision and get it to our guys." Allen also made a point to say he is "not trying to not throw interceptions." "When you try not to, that's when they typically occur," he said. Allen will look to continue his interception-free season on Sunday, October 27th as the Bills travel to Seattle and take on the Seahawks.
