ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – After the devastating storm that hit Roswell this past weekend, many are left to clean up what the flood left behind and members of the community are wasting no time rolling up their sleeves.   Story continues below Business: Three prominent Nob Hill restaurants close their doors Health: Syphilis surges in New Mexico, NMDOH orders increased testing Community: Roswell residents pick up the pieces after record breaking rain and deadly flooding News: APD’s report on deadly crash involving BCSO deputy said deputy is partly to blame Looking at the bridge near DeBremond stadium in downtown Roswell, you'd never know what a mess it was, just hours before. "Before basically the rail line was from top to bottom covered by all forms of debris," said Roswell City Councilor Cristina Arnold.  Arnold spearheaded Wednesday's cleanup effort after seeing the devastation over the weekend and made a Facebook post to see if people could help. "I recognized on Sunday we will have to start cleaning this up. The longer we wait, the worse it gets," said Arnold.    Arnold said she quickly got more than two dozen people of all ages together and the group worked for two hours to clean up a section of downtown. “Fences, limbs trash, grass debris asphalt that had come up from the actual spring river tail,” said Arnold.   Arnold said she's grateful to see the people of Roswell take care of their city. "I see a beautiful community coming together, showing how resilient we are, showing that we are here for each other and connected," Arnold said.     Arnold knows there is still more work to be done. “Cleaning up and fixing these bridges and fixing these roads is going to take us a good two to three years,” said Arnold.    Arnold said she is organizing another cleanup for Saturday.
