SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Department of Health has temporarily suspended the license of a nursing assistant after she was charged with assaulting a dementia patient earlier this year, 12 News has learned. Lovely Soloe, 44, was arrested back in May after she pushed and restrained a 78-year-old patient in her care, according to a consent order made public by the Health Department Tuesday. The nursing facility she was working at has not been made public. Court records indicate Soloe has been charged by the Smithfield Police Department with patient abuse. Her next court date is scheduled for November. Soloe's nursing assistant license has been suspended for at least 30 days. She must complete a series of online courses throughout her suspension, with topics ranging from patient rights and talking to dementia residents to restraint use and assaultive behaviors in the health care workplace, according to the consent order. The suspension will be lifted once Soloe passes each of the online courses. The consent order states she will then be put on probation for one year, during which she can't work as a nursing assistant without direct supervision. Close Thanks for signing up!
