KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Many in Kansas City this morning complained of smelling a foul smell this morning, October 23.
FOX4 Forecast: Winds and rain chances
FOX4's Joe Lauria explains that it's not out of the ordinary. In October and November, farmers to the north are typically spreading manure to fertilize their fields. With the cold front that came through last night, the smell from this process made its way all the way down to Kansas City.
While it's not uncommon, the reason the smell was so potent this morning was because of a morning inversion, trapping the air that blew in from the cold front and creating a lingering effect.
Lauria says that we shouldn't be smelling too much more of this as the days go on, thankfully.
