LANCATER, S.C. – One person died in a three-vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer in Lancaster on Tuesday night, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. It happened around 9 p.m. on Pageland Highway (SC 9) near the intersection of Hershel Plyler Road. Troopers said a tractor trailer and a Chevrolet pickup truck were traveling west on SC 9. An eastbound Buick sedan struck the tractor trailer and then the pickup truck, causing the Chevy to go off the side of the road and hit a mailbox. The Buick driver, 77-year-old Leslie Thomas, died at the scene as a result of the crash.  The tractor trailer driver was not injured. Four occupants in the Chevy truck were not injured, as well. The highway patrol is still investigating the crash.
