One person was killed early Wednesday in a crash involving a car and a big rig on south Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton. The collision occurred about 1:30 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway in the Oceanside area, about 5 miles south of Las Pulgas Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim, whose name was not immediately released, died at the scene. The collision forced a full closure of the south lanes of the freeway for several hours. All lanes reopened shortly after 5 a.m., the CHP said. No details about the person killed or the collision were immediately available.
