ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - It wasn't 80° again. But it wasn't far off. Rochester peaked at 75° this afternoon, marking a short-term top as we deal with a cold front racing through the region. This front doesn't have much going for it in terms of rainfall. Expect scattered showers this evening along the boundary, but some of you won't see any rain at all. Another stunner on Lake Ontario this afternoon! pic.twitter.com/aCdmmm9xpa— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) October 23, 2024 As winds take on a more northerly component, Canadian air will spill in tonight allowing temperatures to tumble into the 40s. The won't be much of a lake response tomorrow, shy of a few shallow clouds. While it will be colder (think afternoon temps around 50°), a solid dose of sunshine will take the edge off. The expectation is for highs to remain in the 50s all the way through the weekend with just a few passing showers late Friday into Saturday. There is strong evidence another potent ridge will build again next week, supporting yet another surge of unseasonably warm air. While me might not be talking 80°, temperatures back into the 70s appears more than reasonable. As we approach the final week of October, some of you might be getting the itch for "sweater weather". While I'm not here to tell you what you can/cannot wear, I am here to tell you sweaters likely won't be the most comfortable choice. Very strong signals continue to pour in that… pic.twitter.com/XDtayOVJdm— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) October 23, 2024 8-Day Forecast
