MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Merced police have released new developments in a case that left a 15-year-old high school freshman shot dead in early September. Police say on Sept. 9, they responded to a report of a 15-year-old boy who was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds in the 1800 block of West North Bear Creek Drive. The 15-year-old's family identified him as Mario Fertini III. ‘He was a good kid’: Merced teen killed in shooting named by family Investigators responded about 6 a.m. but after canvassing the area for video surveillance footage and potential witnesses they believe he was shot around 2 a.m. On Wednesday, detectives revealed a white 4-door vehicle with a sunroof that is believed to be connected to the homicide. Police are asking for the community's help in identifying the vehicle or any individuals involved. Anyone with any information is urged to call Merced Police Detective Edwin Arias at 209-388-7826.
