MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Merced police have released new developments in a case that left a 15-year-old high school freshman shot dead in early September. Police say on Sept. 9, they responded to a report of a 15-year-old boy who was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds in the 1800 block of West North Bear Creek Drive. The 15-year-old's family identified him as Mario Fertini III. ‘He was a good kid’: Merced teen killed in shooting named by family Investigators responded about 6 a.m. but after canvassing the area for video surveillance footage and potential witnesses they believe he was shot around 2 a.m. On Wednesday, detectives revealed a white 4-door vehicle with a sunroof that is believed to be connected to the homicide.
